Cairos Technologies AG, a privately-owned stock corporation founded in June 2000, was the first to have the idea of tracking the ball on the pitch in order to provide referees with support for their decisions. In December 2007, the magnetic field-based Goal-Line Technology (GLT system) was successfully tested at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan.

In addition to Goal Line Technology, Cairos technologies AG developed a video-based tracking system (VIS.TRACK) that is able to track all players and the ball reliably in real time. Clubs, associations and the media can use the VIS.TRACK system to obtain valuable information such as moves, speeds, distances and player and ball positions on the pitch.
